This yummy chocolate recipe is great for the kids, and tastes especially soothing served with a big glass of cold milk. This is also an excellent treat for school parties and such.

Ingredients:

Butter – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 cup
12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate (can be substituted with semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

  • Line a jelly roll pan with foil. Make it as smooth as possible. Line the bottom of the pan with crackers, covering the entire bottom of the pan.
  • Combine the butter and sugar in a saucepan and stir over heat until the butter is melted, and the mixture is at a low boil. Remove from heat. Pour the mixture over the crackers.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for about ten minutes.
  • Allow this to cool a bit, and then place the chocolate evenly over the crust that has formed. Return to the oven for about 3 to 5 more minutes, allowing the chocolate to warm so that you can spread it.
  • Remove the pan from the oven, and spread the chocolate over the crust using a rubber spatula.
  • Allow this to cool, and then refrigerate it for a couple of hours. Once it has hardened in the refrigerator, you can break the bark into pieces. Store in plastic containers in the refrigerator, but serve at room temperature.
