Chocolate Amaretto Bars Recipe

Like hot chocolate, there is just something about chocolate amaretto bars that is soothing in the winter time. These make a great treat for holiday parties, for family nights, or for romantic evenings in front of the fireplace. Note that the amaretto can be substituted with almond extract.

Ingredients:

Sugar – 1 cup
2 eggs
Unsalted butter – ½ cup, melted
All purpose flour – ½ cup
Cocoa – 1/3 cup
Almonds – 1 ¼ cup - ground or finely chopped
Amaretto – 2 tbsp (can be substituted with ½ tsp of almond extract if alcohol is not wanted or warranted.

Directions:

  • Combine the butter and sugar and mix until creamy. Combine the eggs, flour, and cocoa to this mixture, and beat until it is mixed well.
  • Stir in the ground almonds and the amaretto.
  • Butter an 8” baking pan, and preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Pour the mixture into the pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Allow to cool in pan. Break or cut into candy sized pieces.
  • Serve cold or at room temperature. Store in the refrigerator in plastic containers.
