Chocolate Fondue Recipe

This is a treat that is actually fairly traditional for slumber parties. The girls (and guys) love to make fondue. Not much cooking is required, and the mess is usually kept to a minimum. Teenagers do really well with this, but younger children should be supervised.

Ingredients:

Bittersweet chocolate (dark chocolate) – 4 ounces
Butter – ¼ cup
Sugar – ½ cup
Sugar – an additional tbsp
Milk – ¼ cup
Vanilla extract or real vanilla – ½ tsp

Directions:

  • Melt the chocolate, the butter, the ½ cup of sugar and the milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla. If the mixture becomes too thick, you can add a bit more milk. If it tastes too bitter, add a little more sugar.
  • Pour or spoon the mixture into individual desert cups. While this mixture should be stored in the refrigerator, it should not be served cold – it should be served warm (immediately).
  • Do not pour the mixture into cold desert cups. Make sure that they are at least room temperature first!

Yield:
4 or 5 individual servings
